After more than two months in Norway
What is a classic activity for Norwegians on weekends? If they own a cabin, then going there for the weekend is a traditional activity. So my flatmates and I decided to go as well on a cabin trip. NTNUI (sports association of NTNU) owns and maintains some cabins in Trøndelag, providing us with a perfect opportunity. Fun fact, the huts usually don’t have any running water besides steam nearby and a very traditional toilet outdoors.
First two weeks as a Ph.D. candidate
Holidays are pleasant but can not last forever. Therefore, my new life is catching up and starts with a friendly welcome from the department. PS: The book is actually helpful and describes a lot of the issues a Ph.D. candidate has.
Work is one part, and free time is not gone entirely. My flatmates and I took the more or less stable weather and went out for a nice hike. But, first, we had to bike to the start point.
Days before the new employment
The days are flying by. Still so much to see and to explore. It does not take much time to leave Trondheim and go into the forest and the surrounding hills. The surrounding of Trondheim offers a lot. Many areas to hike or bike and many blueberries and that in late August. That lead as expected to a ‘Schwarzbeerschmarrn’ what remembers me of my home in Tirol.
Almost every day ended at the ‘Korsvika’ beach with some beer, and a lovely sunset.
First time in Oslo
First time in Oslo What needs to be done in the first few days in a new country is to see as much as possible. So next on the agenda was to visit my girlfriend in Oslo. I departed with some rain and wind in Trondheim and arrived in Oslo with sunshine. I was clearly not well-prepared for sunny weather, so the next few days will be challenging.
Flight to Oslo and the first sight seeing at the opera house The first full day in Oslo started with a sunny morning and ended exhausted in the apartment after a long walk around the city.
First days in Trondheim
My first two days in Trondheim What are the first things to do when you arrive in a new place? Try to make some bread and explore the surrounding. Well, the bread was a success and didn’t last long.
The first explorations went quite far, and thanks to my flatmate, we did a late evening hike and had a lovely sunset. We always had cloudy mornings for the first few days, but the sun came through over the day.
